As you may well know by now, we’re all about maintaining a genuinely satisfying and healthy diet here at Heat & Eat Lean.

But every now and again, every one of us get a craving for a guilty pleasure – whether it be chocolate, pizza, ice cream, or anything else that tickles your fancy. It’s something you should never feel guilty about, no matter what some self-proclaimed “experts” or diet plans say. Personally speaking, I know I couldn’t live without my Curly Wurly bars!

So it’s no surprise that a range of “healthy” alternatives to your favourite foods are freely available in the shops. But while you may think choosing this in favour of your preferred treat, it isn’t always the case.

Let’s take “guilt-free” ice cream Halo Top as an example and compare it to Ben & Jerry’s. Weighing in at roughly 1000kcal less per tub, of course Halo Top wins the calorie battle – but it doesn’t taste like the proper ice cream you’re craving. As a result, you may find yourself seeking more alternative snacks to fill the void. Before you know it, you’ve eaten more calories than if you’d have just stuck a spoon into the Ben & Jerry’s in the first place!
